CUCR Trip to New Hampshire

Sunday October 29th 2008
by Jason Gould, CUCR Chairman

Members of the Connecticut Union of College Republicans traveled up to New Hampshire this past weekend.  Students from UConn and Eastern arrived at the Manchester McCain headquarters around 10am Saturday morning.  After introductions to the New Hampshire team, and a conference call from McCain to thank his volunteers for their hard work, students ventured out to knock on doors.  Most people knocked on doors in teams of two and surveyed people about who they planned on voting for in the coming election.
The McCain campaign targeted people in certain neighborhoods who were either Independents, or Republicans that didn’t always vote.  For the most part, the students were very well received by residents.  One group recounted a particularly memorable couple which thanked them, and then asked them to convince their father/father in law to vote Republican.  Though they were unsuccessful, the couple thanked them for their efforts and respect during the debate.
The trip overall was very successful, rewarding, and most importantly helpful to the McCain campaign.  If anyone is interested in traveling up to New Hampshire to help the McCain Campaign this coming weekend, please contact Chairman Jason Gould(chairman@thecucr.com, (860)559-9750)
